Moving time again. I’m planning to move a little further away from the city center, ideally somewhere with a 1-month contract so I can easily move again once I find somewhere I’m happy to rent long term.
House hunting is annoying because it feels like shopping and the consequences of choosing the wrong place can be somewhat severe. For example: My last place was next to a school. I moved in during the holidays so didn’t know this at first, but a week later I woke to the sound of screaching kids. I endured the screaching for the following 5.75 months until my contract ended.
One of my soon-to-be-released Ruby on Rails projects needs a payment gateway and Stripe is my preferred solution. I’ve chosen to use the ‘elements’ method rather than the hosted checkout pages and will be handling the javascript with Stimulus.
Stripe is a good product but writing tests for Stripe integration can be tricky so that’s probably where most of the energy will be focused on.
There are so many albums in my collection that I bought decades ago and no longer listen to as my tasted have changed. Back in the era of CDs you kept hold of this music because it was expensive and could be lent to friends, but nowadays I consider it to be a waste of hard drive space.
My routine is to choose a potentially unwanted album then take a long walk along the river while listening to it, during which I decide its fate.
